Our Story

Care Recruitment International was launched in early 2023 by long-term friends and business partners Melvin Byres and Malcolm Loudon.

Since launch, CRI has successfully and ethically sourced dozens of wonderful healthcare workers to some of the UK’s leading care home groups and domiciliary care providers. Our clients are spread across the country, and we’re now being trusted by overseas governments with their recruitment needs. At the time of writing, we can boast a 100% retention rate for all workers placed.

We have also launched our pioneering live-in carer service that is making this form of care more accessible and affordable to private individuals in the UK. Crucially, this service is also making it possible for clients to receive consistent, continued care from Filipino care workers who are already familiar to them.

The demand for care is only going to grow globally in the coming decades, and CRI are excited to be driving best practices in international recruitment.

Our Leadership Team

Melvin Byres
Managing Director &
Co-Founder

Originally from the UK, I spent most of my upbringing and career to date in Hong Kong, before returning to Scotland in 2022.

At the same time, I was helping my kids' old nanny pivot to a new career in the UK when I noticed that it was now possible for overseas carers to get UK work visas.

I made it my mission to find her a new role and this opened my eyes up to the challenges good employers and great experienced carers have in connecting with one another. Along the way I also discovered how rife exploitation and scams are in this sector, with many candidates paying up to £25,000 for jobs that don't even exist.

It was at that moment I decided we needed to do something about this and CRI was born.

Malcolm Loudon
Head of Recruitment &
Co-Founder

I lead CRI's recruitment operation from my base in Hong Kong, from where I make fairly regular trips to the Philippines.

One of the most rewarding parts of my role is making a perfect match between client and candidate, knowing the positive impact that will have on both the client and the candidate's lives. It's also uplifting to see candidates flourishing and enjoying life in the UK.

I'm incredibly excited about the future of the care industry and how we can positively impact it.

Daisy Williams
Partnerships Manager

I oversee CRI's client servicing and act as the primary point of contact for our clients throughout the entire campaign process -from onboarding and interviews to processing and final deployment. The best part of my role is witnessing the unique rapport that develops between clients and candidates during interviews.

With a background in social enterprise, I was particularly attracted to CRI for its strong commitment to ethics and integrity.

I’m based in Edinburgh but maintain strong connections across the UK.
