Meet our exceptional Filipino live-in carers

Most of our live-in caregivers are from the Philippines and are currently working in the UK as professional caregivers.

Meet some of these wonderful people and explore their motivations and the aspects of their work in the UK that they cherish.

What our clients say

Our carers are trained and experienced in providing support for a diverse range of conditions. If required, suitable specialised training can be arranged.

Filipino live-in carer called Rhea laughing with her elderly British client Siobhan.

My wife Siobhan was diagnosed with a dementia that has all the symptoms normally associated with dementia, but also causes blindness. Until this year I was her sole carer, but that became unsustainable when I became ill myself.

I heard about Care Recruitment International from a relative, contacted Melvin and through his firm hired Rhea to help us.

Rhea has made life possible again. She is a gentle, caring and incredibly hard working person and Siobhan and I have become very fond of her. I thank both Melvin and the team for setting this up and would recommend them to anyone.

When arranging care for my father, we engaged Melvin and the team at Care Recruitment International; given their specialism in recruiting Filipino carers and for doing so both ethically and professionally.

We’re very happy with our carer and would recommend CRI to anyone looking to find a long-term carer for one of their loved ones.

My Mum had approached the stage where she needed someone trustworthy and caring to care for her; naturally she wanted to stay in her own home. We got in touch with Care Recruitment International and were delighted with the end result. Our carer has now been with us for 6 months and she has settled in so well; she’s happy and most importantly so is my Mum.

The “One Client:One Carer” model works really well for us so we don’t foresee the need to recruit a carer again, but wouldn’t hesitate to use CRI if the need arose.

Overall, CRI provided a successful service. I highly recommend them for anyone needing live-in carer support in the UK.

Personal care

Includes cleaning, laundry, organising, shopping, managing bills and maintenance.

Frequently asked questions

What are the costs?

Our Essential care package – priced at £963/week – suits most clients. Our Enhanced plan – for those who have higher dependency – starts from £1,145/week, however each package is bespoke depending on the needs of the client.

When can the care plan begin?

From the point of enquiry to your care plan starting, a minimum of 1 month is required. We are able to help arrange short-term temporary care in the interim if that is required.

Which geographical areas do you cover?

We are currently able to serve clients living in England and Scotland.

Our service is ideally suited to rural areas where long travel distances and limited local housing/staffing make traditional care visits unpredictable. Examples of these areas include Norfolk, Wiltshire, Dorset, Devon, East Sussex and Oxfordshire.

Why choose live-in care?

The key benefit of live-in care is remaining in your own home and retaining your independence within a familiar environment. For those with light to moderate care needs, live-in care also offers a more economical option compared to a residential care home.

Does the carer live in my house?

Yes, the live-in carer will live in your home. You are required to provide a suitable spare bedroom within or near your property for their exclusive use.

Is this care service regulated?

Yes, our care provider partner is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in England and the Care Inspectorate in Scotland. These bodies serve as the independent regulators for health and social care in England and Scotland respectively, ensuring that these services are safe, effective, compassionate, and of high quality.

How do you select carers?

We evaluate our carers through a multi-stage process using the “Double C” framework, which assesses both character and competence. Character encompasses an applicant’s values, personality traits, and soft skills, while Competence refers to their formal qualifications, work experience, and technical abilities.

In addition, we ensure the carer is the ideal match for you, based on their personality, skills and professional experience, for example ensuring clients with dementia are cared for by someone with the relevant experience and qualifications.

Ultimately, we only accept carers who we’d be happy to have looking after our own loved ones.

What caregiving qualifications do your carers have?

All of our carers are pre-approved by the Home Office to work in the UK. They hold formal caregiving qualifications and typically have a minimum of three years of relevant care experience.

What is the carers’ English proficiency?

Effective caregiving hinges on clear communication. This is why we meticulously screen all our carers for their English proficiency. Only carers with fluent, confident communication skills make it into our candidate pool.

Why hire a carer from The Philippines?

Filipino carers are highly experienced and ideally suited for care roles. They are known for their loyalty, strong work ethic, and caring demeanour. Additionally, the Philippines ranks second in Asia (after Singapore) for English proficiency, with candidates speaking excellent, neutral-accented English, and sharing cultural similarities with Britons.

We pro-actively recruit exceptional carers from various countries, not exclusively from the Philippines.

How are our care plans lower cost than other live-in care plans on the market?

Live-in care models typically involve multiple carers working on a rotational basis. Our “One-Carer, One-Client” model offers a more cost-effective alternative to this traditional approach. This is achieved because the carer’s primary place of residence is your home and they don’t incur living costs for a separate property.

What happens during the carer’s days off and holidays?

Sufficient rest is crucial for carers to consistently provide optimal care. Days off and holiday can be scheduled at times that are convenient for you. During such times if care is required, most clients will rely on relatives or friends; sometimes clients arrange care via a local provider or carer to cover these periods.

Can the carer drive?

We can accommodate requests for carers who drive, though this may extend the recruitment timeline.

Can I bring over my former domestic helper who is currently abroad?

No – under current legislation, it is not possible to recruit care workers from outside the UK. However we’re confident we could find you an alternative carer from our pool who will exceed your expectations.

What if the relationship with the carer doesn’t work out?

To date, all of the carers we have placed with clients are still in the same role. This is the result of our careful carer-client matching service.

However in the unlikely event that things don’t work out between our clients and carer, then we would look to find a replacement, after identifying what went wrong the first time.

Do you charge the carer to secure a role?

No. We are registered on the NHS Ethical Recruiters List and uphold ethical recruitment practices, never charging carers for securing a role with our clients nor any other service. This aligns with best practice guidelines for recruiters set by the United Nations and International Organization for Migration.
